Aspley Hypermarket is a community based centre located just 13km north of Brisbane’s CBD. Anchored by Coles, Kmart and ALDI the Centre has 60 specialty stores on one level. Originally opened in 1984 with a major expansion in 1995 to include the only Brisbane northside Toys ‘R’ Us, additional specialty stores and a foodcourt. 2012–2013 saw the opening of Coles, ALDI and new format Kmart. The centre has evolved from a 1980s-style big barn to one of the most dominant sub-regional centres in Brisbane. We have undertaken a series of refurbishments and expansions to achieve this maturing of retail experience and presentation. Façades, entrances, malls, the food court and amenities have been significantly upgraded through a consistent theme of colour, material and an innovative architectural language. The remodelling of the centre has involved the inclusion of Woolworths at the northern end and a full makeover and remixing of the free-standing retail warehouse building.
