Originally German-owned and operated, the US government took control of the building in 1942, during World War II, because of its enemy affiliation.Today, many of the original building elements remain – from the wooden beams and brick walls, to the large industrial windows and loading docks. One of the building entrances even goes through the original freight elevator.In our common areas, you’ll find vintage photographs and samples of some of the original textiles.
