Commerce Village is located in Omaha's historic Rail & Commerce Building, originally opened in 1926 as the Burlington Mail Terminal. The building operated as an essential mail-sorting checkpoint in the United States, until the 1970s. The building underwent a, much needed, renovation beginning in 2015. Two years later, the freshly renovated Rail & Commerce Building opened its doors to become an active commercial hub once again. Commerce Village contributes to the community by existing within a sustainable building. The modern, responsible renovation of the Rail & Commerce Building features rooftop solar panels utilized along with renewable energy credits to ensure it operates as a carbon neutral facility.
