This coworking space is located in the heart of Balaclava in a reimagined warehouse building called The Windsor Cable Tram Engine House. The building’s rich history can be traced to 1891, when local transport tycoon Francis Boardmann Clapp established the Melbourne Cable Tramway Network and powered the Windsor-Esplanade tram line from the Engine House. Coming from a background of small business, owners El, Rod and Ryan have always enjoyed being hands on, servicing others and creating amazing spaces. The Engine House team is encouraged to be independent, autonomous and creative. And most importantly, enjoy the day-to-day – thats what we are all about. You won’t find any inspirational quotes on the walls, ping pong or annoying buzzwords on our whiteboards. Neither will you find precious or stiff corporate offices filled with suits and swipe cards.
